If you can tear yourself away from the fabulous on-site facilities, head into the heart of Windermere where you can enjoy a variety of watersports on the town’s iconic lake; try your hand at kayaking, paddle boarding or even just admire the breath-taking views on a boat tour.
Children will be in their element as the town also houses The World of Beatrix Potter with exhibits about the writer and animatronics of the beloved characters; continue the literary theme at the National Trust site of Hill Top which was once Beatrix Potter’s home or head north to Grasmere to explore the museum dedicated to the lake poet Wordsworth.
The national park is also brimming with a myriad of walks and trails suitable for a range of abilities; head for Stock Ghyll Force to marvel at the impressive 70-foot waterfall, amble through Holehird Gardens to admire the array of beautiful flora or ascend to Orrest Head Viewpoint for unique panoramas across Cumbria.

Troutbeck Bridge is a small village in the Lake District National Park that can be found between Windermere and Ambleside and is close to the popular tourist destination of Kirkstone Pass. This sleepy hamlet, comprised of a scattering of Lakeland cottages, is home to a bustling and very popular local pub serving real ales and fine food.
Windermere and Ambleside, both teeming with retail establishments, restaurants, and other services, are not far away. Visit the Lake Windermere Aquarium or the Grizedale Forest Park for some lakeside fun; if you're travelling with kids, you can't miss the World of Beatrix Potter in neighbouring Bowness, where cutting-edge technology brings the beloved children's author's characters to life.
Coniston Water, Kendal, Keswick, and the Lakeland Mountains are all within driving distance of Troutbeck Bridge, making it a great base from which to explore the region.
