Slaters Rest is a former quarryman’s cottage overlooking the Langdale Valley and Langdale Pikes. This is an ideal base for two couples and a walker’s dream. This traditional, characterful cottage has been tastefully renovated to provide a comfortable stay. Enter into the cosy lounge with lovely multifuel stove which is the perfect spot to reflect on your day together.

Continue through to the well-equipped kitchen with dining area and further onto the ground floor modern shower room. The two spacious bedrooms are both a treat with inspiring mountain views and one has a large en-suite complete with bath perfect for a long soak after a day outdoors.whilst the other has a luxurious en-suite bathroom with fell side views.

Outside the cottage is a shared garden area, a lovely spot for your morning coffee. Chapel Stile is a small village within the Landgale Valley but only 4 miles from Ambleside. Immerse yourself into nature and enjoy the many walks from the door and nearby Blea Tarn. You'll find a plethora of excellent Lake District country pubs in the Langdale Valley, serving locally brewed ale and hearty food including The Britannia Inn and Wainwright’s Inn.

If you're looking for a special evening out, sample the Glass House in Ambleside or seek out the famous Drunken Duck Inn and Restaurant in nearby Outgate.

About the Langdale area

Often referred to as Great Langdale, to distinguish it from nearby Little Langdale, Langdale's name comes from the Old Norse for 'long valley'. Langdale is a u-shaped valley formed by glaciers. It encompasses the two villages of Chapel Stile and Elterwater, as well as the hamlet of High Close. Set in the centre of the Lake District, Langdale is probably best known for its mountains, from the Langdale Pikes – a group of mountains on the northern side of the village – to England’s highest mountain, Scafell Pike.

Rock climbers will also love Raven Crag, Gimmer Crag and White Ghyll. There Not surprisingly Langdale is also famous for it’s spectacular views, including Dungeon Ghyll Force Waterfall, Harrison Stickle and Pike of Stickle. it is an extremely popular holiday destination and loved by hikers, climbers, fell runners and lovers of the outdoors in general.
