This charming and historic town was mentioned in the 1086 Domesday Book and holds a market charter from the 13th Century. This market continues on a weekly basis every Thursday and offers a perfect opportunity for visitors to explore the variety of distinctive shops in the town as well as the many 17th and 18th Century buildings.
The picturesque Lune Valley was popular with the artist Turner and is host to the medieval Devil's Bridge that spans the river.
