When the weather permits, be sure to utilise the decked veranda, which is intended for an outdoor gathering with hillside views in the backdrop. Despite being only 13 miles from Keswick, the sleepy agricultural market town of Cockermouth is located in the peaceful northwest region of the Lake District. The National Trust presently operates Wordsworth's Georgian family home on the main street, which is a well-liked tourist destination. The town is well-known for being the birthplace of both Fletcher Christian (of Mutiny on the Bounty fame) and William Wordsworth.
Cockermouth has a nice selection of stores, bars, and restaurants, but (obviously) the area's major draw is the stunning scenery and fantastic hiking in the northern lakes, including Bassenthwaite Lake, Ennerdale Water, and Derwent Water.
