Outside there are three garden areas that you can sit in, with the raised lawned area to the front boasting wonderful country views. The village of Far Sawrey has a Post Office/store and pub/restaurant. Bowness, with all its shops, restaurants and leisure facilities, is just a short distance across the lake by ferry. Also close by is 'Hill Top', once the home of Beatrix Potter, and Hawkshead with its picturesque 17th century cottages.
