Barn Cottage sits at the northern tip of Bassenthwaite Lake, just ten minutes' drive from Keswick. The front door opens directly to the welcoming open plan living and dining space, with cosy log burning stove and TV, dining table area, and handmade oak kitchen with granite worktops and quality appliances.

There is a washer/dryer within the airing cupboard in the shower room and a separate WC with basin is also on the ground floor. The master bedroom has been cleverly created on the mezzanine above the living area, with beautiful original oak beams (tall people need to duck!) and en-suite shower room.

The second bedroom and family shower room are on the ground floor. To the rear of the cottage there is a small enclosed garden with table and seating for al fresco drinks. There is a charcoal barbeque and a lovely view. To the front of the cottage there are views across the valley to Skiddaw that dominates the skyline.

With a great choice of walks from the door, easy access to the high fells that dominate the northern Lakes, or just a lakeshore wander, a great choice of local pubs and places to eat in the area and the market towns of Keswick and Cockermouth both within fifteen minutes' drive there is plenty to see and do and an array of beautiful scenery waiting to be explored.

For those who like wild swimming, there are small beach areas on the shore of Bassenthwaite lake, about then minutes walk from the cottage.

About the Cockermouth area

The small country market town of Cockermouth is situated in the quiet north-western part of the Lake District, a largely undiscovered and unspoilt area, yet only 13 miles from Keswick. The town is famous as the birthplace of both William Wordsworth and Fletcher Christian (of Mutiny on the Bounty fame) and Wordsworth’s Georgian family home, on the main street, is now a popular visitor attraction, owned by the National Trust.

Cockermouth offers a good variety of shops, pubs and places to eat, but (of course) the main attraction of the area is the beautiful scenery and excellent walking in the northern lakes – Bassenthwaite Lake, Ennerdale Water and Derwent Water.
