Beck Edge is a delightful stone-built barn conversion nestled into the village of Braithwaite, and with close by walks and amenities, it is the ideal base for a family or a group of friends looking to explore the breath-taking scenery of Cumbria. Park off-road and be welcomed into this charming abode, discovering a homely sitting room where you can recline and plan the day ahead of you in the warm glow of the woodburning stove.

Allow the utility room to take care of all of your muddy clothes from a day exploring the local fells. You will find an amply fitted open plan kitchen with comfortable seating and dining area, this is a great area where your friends and family can join you on the comfortable sofa and bar stools chatting about the day you have had, whilst the chef in the group creates a masterpiece for you all to savour at the dining table or perhaps enjoying a coffee from the sitting area as the gas fire adds ambience.

There is also a cosy mezzanine where you can relax or read a good book under the bright reading floor lamp. When sleep calls, retire to one of three bedrooms, choosing between a king-size with en-suite shower room, a double and a single, serviced by a bathroom. Braithwaite is a delightful village, offering a selection of pubs and cafes, with options including the Royal Oak, Ivy House Restaurant and the Coledale Inn.

There is also a convenience store for all of your holiday essentials. The village is close to many fantastic walks, including those at Coledale Beck, Newlands Beck, Grisdale Pike, Bassenthwaite Lake National Nature Reserve and Derwentwater where there are watersports facilities, and Coledale Horseshoe which can be walked from the door.

The property is also close to mountain biking trails at the lovely Whinlatter Forest, walks at Lodore Falls, and the Keswick to Threlkeld Railway Path End. For more tasty eateries, independent shops, and more attractions such as a golf course, museums, walks, watersports and Castlerigg Stone Circle, head over to the charming town of Keswick.

About the Braithwaite area

Between the magnificent northern lakes of Derwentwater and Bassenthwaite, lies the village of Braithwaite. Still retaining much of its traditional appeal, the Coledale Beck runs through the village with whitewashed Lakeland cottages, two village shops and two real ale Inns each brimming with character!

Between Braithwaite and Buttermere is the beautiful Newlands Valley, while picturesque Bassenthwaite Lake is well worth a visit. From a gentle countryside ramble to a challenging hike up Skiddaw, there really is something for everyone. Visit Mirehouse, a grand house and gardens on the shores of the lake with an open-air theatre, or take a trip around the lake.

Lake District Wildlife Park, Dodd Wood, Derwentwater, and Keswick with its wide range of attractions, are also within easy reach.
