About the Aspatria area

Aspatria is a small town in west Cumbria which has had a settlement there for over 3000 years. The town is located on the site of an old Roman road and is known for its 19th century St. Kentigern church. Lying just 5 miles from the coast and on the edge of the Lake District National Park, Aspatria is a superb base for discovering the Cumbrian countryside.

It has a railway station and a number of shops and pubs. Just a few miles to the north is the market town of Wigton which still holds a market each Tuesday in the covered market hall.
